Any Burners in Tucson?

Hello lovely Burners, I am moving to Tucson, Arizona in Jan. for about 5 or 6 months, and I'm looking for some people to connect with. Besides my family that's already out there, I don't know anyone else. Therefore, I'm a little nervous as to how to go about meeting people. You can post on here or send me a message if you'd like. Thanks. :)

Peace and Love,
Lisa

Seeking House/pet sit or worktrade - Sedona

Aloha,
> Similar to many awakening souls, I realized I was coming to Sedona about 2 hours before I was on my way.
>
> I've been here now for almost a month, and realizing I need to be here longer.
>
> I practice Dreamwork and have been working on my website:
>
> It's a constant work-in-progress, and is in it's birthing state, as you'll notice if you visit it. There's much more to add to it, but you'll get an idea of what I'm up to.
>
> I also practice Reiki, DNA Activation, and offer spiritual guidance; clairvoyant, empathic and channeling.
>
> My other skills include Power Point Presentations, copy editing, and I enjoy the more physical side of work as well, if your needs are in that arena.
>
> While this is somewhat last minute, I trust in divine timing.
>
> I'm 38, spin long staff, am great with pets, keep clean, and am pretty good in the kitchen
>
> You can also find me on Facebook under Jason Levitt, or visit my website and look at the About Me link at the bottom for a photo, if you have trouble finding me on FB.
>
> Feel free to call with any questions: 808-756-8689
> 'till then, take care and dream deeply
> Jason

Aloha,
I'm in town for the next month or two, house/cat sitting, and looking for things to do..burners to connect with.
I'm spending most of my time writing up material for Dream Skills workshops, website, and book series....and I gotta unplug!

I have my longstaff with me, though this town is pretty tight on fires, understandably...

I love drumming, fire, dreaming, electric & world beat tunes, and prefer 'house party' gatherings of conscious folk, to the bar scene.

Hope to hear from you :)

dreaming deeply

Early admissions pass requests: we were one of 19% of theme camps shut out

Hi guys,

We just got news that we were cut from camp placement. This means, among other
things that we lost our 5 early admission passes.

We had a very tough couple of weeks leading up to the due date for the camp
plans and they sucked, though our camp is actually really great. For this reason
when they ran out of assigned space we didn't make the cut.. actually there were an alarming number of camps that didn't make the cut btw... though we spend a
substantial portion of our tax return buying the 4,000 condoms that we are
bringing to give away, and spend hundreds of hours in the last couple of years
putting together the other art and engineersnig projects and collecting the
other 1000 plus condoms and dental dams etc. from other public sources. Etc etc.
So you see REALLY our camp did not suck, we have two big projects plus a 24/7
condom bar... prolly not a bad thing at b-man right?

So... what would help is if anyone out there has as many as 5 or as few as 2
early admission passes so that we can stake things out and get our stuff set up
in a staging area (which might become our camp come monday at 12:01 if all goes
well.

We would be willing to collect your space for you if you for any reason can't be
there until Monday despite early admission plans... or if you just have more
early admissions than you need... and of course we would be happy to pitch in a
bit in whatever capacity setting up you might need.

If you can hook us up... let us know... you would be going a long way to correct
a big, big mistake that the B-man org has committed.

Cheers,

Prudence and MildBill

I'm new to AZ and would like to meet other AZ Burners.
I live in Scottsdale, AZ. Would anyone like to help me organize a gathering? I'm going out of town until the end of June. But after that- maybe a pool party or gathering in a park? my email is kozinnj@aol.com.

I'm bummed about missing the hoop event. I'm just learning.

L.A.-based producer Nosaj Thing (Jason Chung) is a sound innovator. His electronic sound scapes and wild beat tectonics play like vignettes that affect the listener's mind as deeply as he hits their soul. Without a doubt, Nosaj Thing is among L.A.'s finest musical modulators.

Toast? (info/transpo)

So a friend of mine (also in the LA area (souther california) with me) went ahead and got us tickets for Toast... I've no problem driving out there, but from what I read on the site, my van may not be in the mood to deal with the last leg.

Anyone out there who can think of something that may be of assistance? Maybe a place (house or something) I could drive do, park van and ride with to event?

It'd be me and my buddy Awno (available for viewing, non-exclusively, at my friends list... free of charge), and as much supplies as you'd be comfortable with. I gots lots, but can travel lightly, if it be the need for me to do so...

That's all for now. Just wanted to get it out there asap and allow time for things to snowball a bit...

Thanks for your time...

Do all things in Goodness
Have a nice day

New relationship support group in Tucson

For as long as I can remember I have been considered a “Hopeless romantic”. I jumped from one long-term relationship to another with short bursts of lust in-between. I never cheated on my partners, and I never lied either. Oddly enough this continued to be problematic in my relationships!

Something never quite felt right to me. Why is it I still get interests or crushes on others no matter how head-over-heels IN LOVE I am with my girlfriend? If sharing love with one person feels great, what would it feel like sharing love with more than one person? Are we truly that controlled by jealousy and other insecurities that we can’t go to the depths of our emotions with more than one person?

Everywhere I looked society was telling me the “right” way to experience deep intimate connections. That “right way” is with intense jealous and controlling passion. Is our society really that isolated and closed-minded?

I constantly challenged every societal norm I ever clashed with, so why “go with the flow” if my heart constantly feels restricted?

Needless to say over seven years ago I found out thousands of individuals in the U.S. share my prospective. Not only that, but Monogamy (lifelong commitments between two individuals) is actually a rarity when you consider the rest of the world and bonding patterns of other species.

How many others feel this way but don’t have access to these resources? How many people are in my town and could benefit from hearing similar prospectives from others like them? Where do I go to get help from others like me?

Well it is time to find out!

In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants… for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men.

In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW II, SAW III, SAW IV) and produced by Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate, this futuristic horror rock opera stars Paul Sorvino (GOODFELLAS), Alexa Vega (SPY KIDS), Paris Hilton (HOUSE OF WAX), Anthony Head (TV’s "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Bill Moseley (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS), Ogre (from the band Skinny Puppy) and world-renowned opera singer Sarah Brightman (Broadway’s "Phantom of the Opera"). By fusing ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and BLADE RUNNER, this unique production will modernize the "rock opera" genre with original music and rich, dark production design.

This is NOT your parents’ opera… So cool, they can only show it one theatre at a time!

And Chandler Cinemas is the PERFECT place to give it a home in the Valley!

---------------------------------------------------------------
What is Toast?

The Short version;
Toast is an interactive community of artists camping out over four
days in the high desert of East central Arizona, creating,
collaborating and participating.

Toast!, the Arizona Burn is about self reliance, self expression and
creativity in an environment where we celebrate the differences in
people instead of ridiculing them. More importantly, you as an
attendee create what the event is. Individual and group participation
and creativity is what Toast! is about. Each person has unique
talents-some of us don't define ourselves as artists, but everyone
has some talent or skill to offer as a participant at this event. We
offer you the opportunity to explore those skills and talents with
us. Remember, don't come to be entertained... You are the
entertainment!

More about that and how you can also be part of Toast! can be found
at this link.
know he would appreciate a little thank you. So, I ask you all to
make the trip to Tucson on March 14th 2009 for the First (possibly)
Annual Toast Man Benefit Party!

This party will be held at the lovely Lytyl and Eric's house and all
of you who have been there in the past know that there is plenty of
room for fire performance, art pieces, dancing and just flat out fun-
ness.

There will be a sound system provided and I've asked Ismist to DJ but
I'm sure there will be room for others, you'll have to work out times
amongst yourselves.

This will be a burner type party so all rules apply as such. BOYE (I
will be providing some delicious French toast inspired drinks for as
long as they last), Leave No Trace, etc. Also, little ones should be
put to bed before 9pm as to avoid any underage drinking situations.
Since it's on a Saturday, if you decide to arrive any earlier than 4-
5pm you will be put to work helping clean up the fire areas, seating
areas, setting up the bar area etc. Feel free to help where you can!
Donations will be accepted at any time, though they are not required.

This is a benefit party for Todd though so if you have something to
donate whether it be money, time, supplies (wood, paint, metal,
lighting etc) they will be greatly appreciated I'm sure.
This is going to be somewhat of a surprise to Todd, since I didn't
tell him we're doing this yet so I'd like to keep it a bit of a
surprise, though, posting it here I'm not sure if that will be the
case.

Hoping to see many of you in a couple weeks!
Please feel free to email me off list with any questions and I can
forward them to Lytyl and Eric if needed, as they hardly check here.
Also, I'm waiting to hear back from Lytyl so I can post their address
information. Should be up tomorrow.

Thanks and a big Happaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Toast! To you all!!

Kinfinity

---------------------------------------------------------------------

G&g

counting the days--Just 73--- until we Toast the Toasted Man.

We (Flam Chen) are celebrating and performing in Bisbee for NYE.
Come down and participate in a burningman kinda style.
Like the good old days, we are going to parade through the streets flash mob style and converge the gathering to the park for a finale and countdown with live music (metro the gnome), video dj animations (antralhead video), stilts, and humans suspended 100 feet in the air from helium balloons.
Our theme is "Chinese New Year" so come in your oriental-ish costumes and participate with us.
I remember partying with all you burners down in Bisbee before *Happy* moved away.
Let's make the magic happen again!!!

This NY Burner will be visiting AZ (Phoenix) area this Thanksgiving Holiday. Was wondering if anyone will be around and if there are any workshops or even a spin jam happening. I haven't been on tribe much, but I will keep checking this tribe to see who's out there. I hope I get to meet some of you soon.
We'll check IDs.

We STRONGLY encourage you to carpool - it saves money on gas, helps us allow
PLENTY of room for parking, and establishes a greater sense of adventure among
friends. We SEVERELY encourage everyone to use vehicles with high ground
clearance (trucks, SUVs, Subarus) - we have a few locations to choose from
(weather and conditions depending), and some of them entail crossing washes and
driving on rocky roads. DO NOT bring a compact car (Honda) unless you have
experience with these kinds of roads (properly avoiding rocks, not letting
yourself get high-centered, etc). DO NOT bring lowered vehicles AT ALL. We
very well may not be able to tow you out of any sticky, and we'd really rather
not have to. Traveling to a spot with cellular signal to call for help may
entail traveling at least 5 miles. You have all been warned.

We also adamantly request that you bring the following items:

Water
Food
Ice
First Aid
Trash Bags
Firewood
Tents
Tarps
Sun Shades & Rain Shelter (we'll have some, but more is always good)
Chairs
Snakebite Kits (we won't have enough for everyone and you never know what will
happen)
Bug Spray (if desired)
Clothes for Warm AND Cold Weather

Do NOT bring:

Drugs
Weapons
Malice
Minors unaccompanied by parent or legal guardian
Congressmen

newb needing housing... Tucson

Hey all! I just moved to Tucson and am looking for housing. I really would love to have a place that housed fellow burners so we'll see what happens. About me, well, check out my profile, but it is somewhat dated these days as Tribe has been down almost every time I am online... But the critical pieces are there...

I moved to arizona to work with americorps, and I am doing a project I am highly invested in and can not wait to spend my year here- I am in a very optimistic and enthusiastic part of my life at the moment.

What I am lookign for- nothing over 400 (including utilities) but as I am volunteering the living stipend I recieve is not much, so the cheaper I find the more relaxed I will be. Somethign close to my work with is silverbell and st. marys. A very relaxed, open environment, with social roommates. Something furnished would be great as I have no furniture.

So tribe me if you know anyone with soemthing, or better yet these days, email me kojishi.dae@gmail.com

I'm the Main Stage/DJ Coordinator for this year's Southern California Decompression (www.socalde.com).

This Friday is the deadline for performance sign-ups for the Main Stage at Decom. If you know someone who has expressed interest but hasn't contact me, make sure that they contact me by Friday. No time slots are reserved until the performer purchases their ticket. I will allow sign-ups past the deadline, but it will only be done on-site at Decom and it will be a 'First Come, First Served' basis.

We are looking for all types of performances from DJs to live acts and all things inbetween.

So Cal Decom

Just received from Mission Control. Our latest transmission has some new information in it. Please read carefully.

The Techno-Magicians at Mission Control have selected the launch site for the
Mission to Mars Southern California Decom. There was some early confusion due
to metric vs. standard measurements, but now all Techno-Magicians are using the
same ruler, and everything has been coordinated.
We have teamed up with the people at TeleMagica Grounds, who have the
Magica-Technology to Teleport us to Mars on schedule.

The launch site is in Jacumba, about 80 miles east of downtown SD just off the 8
freeway. As you go south past the onion fields, and through the town of Jacumba,
there may be a slight shimmer in the air when you enter the teleportation field. Do
not be alarmed, it is just the feeling of going to a new home for the first time.

Once you have passed the Greeters you will be transported to a magical landing site
on Mars, TeleMagica. The TeleMagicians have scouted the landing site, and
discovered some Sacred Land, a Pyramid, left by the ancients, some sculptures, and
an ancient Martian Rail Road track along with some rail cars. There is also a large
section of the landing site that has not been terraformed, and will provide a great
space for tent camping.

Book your flight soon! All of the $20 tickets have been sold, and the $40 tickets are
running out quickly. Please go to www.socalde.com to reserve your seat. All tickets
are purchased through PayPal. If you do not have a credit card or bank account for
PayPal to use, please contact Mission Control for alternate payment methods.

It appears that the ancients were expecting us. It also appears that the ancients
were fascinated with art, and want their world to be filled with art. They have left
instructions, and oddly, $1,500 to assist Earthlings in bringing their art to Mars.

Please see the art grants information on www.socalde.com for information about how
you can receive an art grant. The last (Earth)day to submit a proposal is
9/15 – This coming (Earth)Monday.

Mission Control would also like to plan for any art, theme camps, fire, Recreational
Space Vehicles, Performers looking for a place to perform, any activities or
performances, or anything else they may need to plan for. Please go to
www.socalde.com and look for questionnaires related to these items. Mission
Control will place all art and theme camps as best fits the need and the landing site.

The Tele-Magicians were able to create a bubble of Earth air on Mars for our
comfort, but the space is limited and some of the landing area is sacred or very
fragile, so no mutant vehicles or bicycles will be allowed to roam the site during the
mission. Stationary Mutant vehicles are welcome, and should use the theme camp or
art questionnaire.

For more information, please go to www.socalde.com.
Martians are friendly and hard working people, but they could use some help with
various activities. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the volunteer
questionnaire at www.socalde.com

Thank you,
Mission Control

We can't go this year and have 2 tickets for sale. We're, of course, selling them at cost... $210 each plus taxes and fees... I think it's about $445 for both. I'd prefer to sell both at once... message me if you're interested.

Is there anything out there that is a good warm up to BM? This will be my first BM, but not new to the festival scene. I need a diversion in life and little more excitement. I play drums but haven't done circles for a long time since I feel I make drums better than I play them.

Hi, Yardz here,
thought I'd let everyone know that the camp is comning along pretty good, with all the comforts of home...

...Camp Incendiary Nation...

http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/08_camp_vill_c.html
Current number is 25, we have room for 35 to 40 total.

Sooooo...if you don't mind fire, loud music, lots 'o booze, a metric shit ton of jackassery, the occasional dive-by fuck-yer-day from DPW, eurotrash espionage, lamplighter refugees...
...and all sorts of other crazy-ass Burning Man kinda stuff...
...Hit us up...We'd love to have you camp with us!!

Write us at

Drum prep for BM

Being a newbie at the BM scene I'm sure most ppl already have their rythem thumpers already primed, however if there is anyone out there that might need their drum reskinned or just tightened either before of while at BM drop me a line.

I work mainly on Djembes and Asheikos, but can usually work on most drums it not repairing them totally at least getting them through an event long enough to play.

hey all... thanks for the fun.

Out of 4 regional's I've played at, I gotta admit that ya'lls keep a clean site.

I went out to work towards my boy scout servicing badge on Sunday and a touch monday, and It was damn clean.

The burn's were well cleaned up and I found minimal moop.

The one thing that gave a concentration of moop were firecrackers... but it wasn't too excessive.

So thanks, and I look forwards to playing w/ you soon.
The summer is our main fruit season here at WSC although we have some kind of fruit available every month of the year. If the timing works we hope to have plenty of peaches so we are calling this THE PEACH RETREAT.

We have a small 18' above ground pool to cool off in and if needed indoor space for yoga. The sauna is available (some people like to do sweats this time of year) outdoor & indoor showers. We will also have areas with misters to take the heat off if needed.

Please bring a towel for the shower and another if you want to use the sauna. Bring your own tent, sleeping bags and flashlights for camping. There is limited indoor space If you want to rent a small dome for the weekend do it early, prices below in payment area.

We will provide 5 simple vegan meals. A dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch & dinner Saturday and breakfast again on Sunday. If you arrive early or stay longer you are welcome to cook additional meals in our community kitchen. Look around the website it will answer most of your questions.
First Tuesdays are Burner Tuesdays!

My original post had the wrong date.... May 1st is a Thursday.. so.. May 6th is the first First Tuesday aka Burner Tuesday!

(x-posted for Trevor)

Howdy all,

So one of the most common things asked of me on Tuesday these days is
"Where are the rest of the burners?". This has almost become amusing to
me since it's not uncommon for the people who asked to leave and have a
few more stroll in a few minutes later asking the same question... and
repeat, you get the idea. It has also occured to us that we have a great
venue for people to show off there fabulous work. So we have decided to
make a once a month burner night!

Starting next month the first Tuesday of every month is burner Tuesday
at Fat Tuesday! We will be having a featured burner artist showing off
there work each month and Burner DJs all night long.

The idea of this night is to get YOU to participate. You dont have to be
the featured artist to bring stuff to share. We are working on getting
permission to do fire stuffs and it's looking good. Anything that will
work in a bar type venue is welcome! Most of all we want to see your
shining face help make this community happen.

So you want to be a featured artist or DJ. Excellent! Just drop us an email.

On the first one (May 6th) our feature is the lovely Corinne AKA
Krinabelle. If you have never seen her work be prepared to be amazed. I
have been told there will be snake skin involved!

Lets bring some culture back to Tempe!
ISO AZ CJ Burners for meetup

ok-if you understood the subject line, chances are you're in the right place!

i'm looking to start a Contact Juggling meetup in Tucson or PHX and was hoping some burner folks would be interested. if you are unfamiliar with CJ check out this video of one of my tribe friends Dawn-she's awesome!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=sIUcLDcIIF8&feature=related

i've been practicing for a few months and have some basic moves down, but am looking to meet some more experienced CJ'ers to broaden my horizons. I live about 2 hours from Tucson and 3 hours from PHX so i would be limited to a bi-weekly or monthly meetup, but i would love the chance to help organize a tight knit community in support of this incredible art form.

if you know nothing of CJing or are a complete novice, feel free to contact me! i am closer to being a novice than an expert myself so i welcome the opportunity to teach what little i know...you will likely teach me something as well so i whole-heartedly encourage it :) in addition to my limited insights, i can also let beginners borrow a couple DVD's i have to get them started as well. thanks in advance for your time-hope to talk to you soon!

be well

Special events next two Tuesdays

As many of you know Chromatest and myself are DJs at Fat Tuesday on Mill ave (in Tempe). We spin there every Tuesday but the next two Tuesdays are going to be special events you cats might enjoy.

This coming Tuesday (Apr 29) we are having DJs Louder and Matty as our guests. What is special about this is Louder is the biggest breaks DJ in the valley but he will be playing House. Also, Matty is one of the biggest House DJs in the valley but he will be playing breaks. They both are really great guys and a really fun crowd follows each of them. It should be highly entertaining watching them play each other's music.

The Tuesday after that (May 6) Krinabelle, a local artist is doing an art show. She is known for mixing mediums to obtain really wild results. The first Tuesday of the month is also "Burner Tuesday" when a lot of the Burningman folk come out. If you are not super connected with us and live in Phoenix, this would be a great night to meet other crazy burner folk!

They both have different spins and they should both be fun and I hope to see some of you there!

Have you seen the banana suit man?

I'm looking for a man who dresses in a banana suit. He was spotted at Tour de Fat, then an item of his (or one of his friends) was found on the ground (not a hammock). This very same banana man was also at Burning Man last year.

Please be on the lookout for the man in a banana suit.

And please have him contact me and come to First Tuesday @ Fat Tuesdays Tempe to reclaim his lost item.

I feel it would be appropriate that he show up as a banana, for proper identification.

Thanks.

So over the past 6 months I have accumulated a little much to be strapping onto the back of my motorcycle for my return trip to the bay area. Is anyone driving out there in the next two weeks that would be willing to take along a suitcase of cloathes and books, and a motorcycle helmet? I could pay a modest transport fee... hit me up if you can, I am leaving tucson tomorrow though, so I may end up just goodwilling most of it.

Hey folks, a Friend of mine is hosting a workshop in AZ building a cob/natural building greenhouse. Whether you want to build a cob oven, bench, studio, or other such space...or are inspired by the ecological/community awareness, while simultaneously creating a tangible product you should check this out. If anyone is interested either personally or professionally in such a workshop you should look into www.SGNB.com (thats for Seven Generations Natural Builders).

Instructor:
Sasha Rabin (sasha@sgnb.com)
Sasha Rabin has a degree in Ecological Design from Evergreen State College. She has studied natural and traditional methods of building in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Indonesia, and the southwest United States. Following an apprentice at the Cob Cottage Company she worked with them as an assistant instructor(2001) and went on to co-found Seven Genereation Natural Builders in 2003. She built a cob dwelling in the southwest US that she is curently living in. She contuinues to teach with SGNB, as well teaching as a guest instructor at the Real Good Institute for Solar Living(www.realgoods.com) / and Yestermorrow Design/Build School. (www.yestermorrow.org/)

(She is also flexible on the price if that is an issue but for a workshop that is a fair number!!!)

Hello burners! I have a beautiful and compassionate 600+ petaled paper lotus flower screaming to be donated for the next burn session. I don't have the resources to go to a burning man event, so maybe one of you would like to burn it for me. I would be so grateful to aid in the experience with my lotus flower. It has bloomed, but now it calls for it's own death. Thank you!

Going to the playa? Looking for a THEME camp?

The Deviant Playground (yes, that's right folks - we are DP Camp) is looking for members. Please contact us soon if you are interested, we will need to get our final numbers and space needs to the BM Org. soon. Please see http://www. deviantplayground. org/ for contact info and other stuff.

The Deviant Playground – DP For Your Inner Child

Join us on our mission to exceed all possible levels of legal (or
illegal) deviance at BM08. The Deviant Playground is a chance to
experience your childhood all over again without the pesky
consequences. We'll even let you put gum in your hair.

What we got:
• Community shade structure and clubhouse
• A deviant lemonaid stand
• Kitchen
• A shower
• Evap pond
• Possible porta-potty
• trampoline
• see-saw

What we're doing:
• A number of off the playa events, its a year long experience!
• BRC slumber party
• Midnight picnic
• stuffed animal shelter
• A poly playa wedding
• button making
• body art photography

What we need:
Camp members who are WILLING to participate – This means you are
willing to bring a structure, plan an event that furthers our theme
or provide some sort of camp amenity. Camp members will also be
responsible for providing one group dinner while on-playa.
Participation is MANDATORY and if you show up on-playa sans your
contribution, you will be politely asked to camp elsewhere as soon as
open camping space is available. We intend to be a functional theme
camp and to that end, everyone must participate. Applications will
be reviewed by the Camp Assholes. Therefore, brown-nosing is
encouraged. If accepted into camp, you will be added to our camp
email list. Due to the adult nature of some of our camp activities
and the camp bar, we request that all applicants be at least 21 years
old.

Will there be a community art project at toast, like we had at the Decomp? I have some incendiaries and flash pot pots I made last year to bring. If any ones wants to use them.
I may bring a burnable art piece. The size depends on the time I will have. I am working 6- 10s right now so time is a factor.
Not the Toast man, thru. After it tried to killed me 2 years ago I decide not to do him again.:)
Your obedient servant

Yoga Stars!

Your body is a universe, let me help you to explore it!

I am a yoga instructor who just moved to Phoenix from Seattle. I like to work with people one-on-one and currently have lots of openings for new students. To drum up interest and community, for a limited time I am offering sliding-scale private yoga instruction, Reiki sessions, and small group workshops (I dig the barter system!). I am also creating a schedule of free and low-cost yoga classes in gallery and studio locations throughout downtown and in natural areas surrounding Phoenix. I have some beautiful spaces to work with or I can possibly come to you and help you create space for yoga in your home. Private instruction is a brilliant way to learn a lot quickly and to understand what yoga means to you.

I help you to create energetic openings with yoga postures and infuse these openings with energy healing. I physically support you as you explore the poses and often integrate other interests such as art, music, swimming, running, hiking etc, to create a practice that is perfect for you. This combined with visualization, meditation, breath work, movement and intuitive massage fills your being with an expansive peace and revolutionary change as the energy flows freely throughout your life.
Pictures and more info are available at people.tribe.net/airina

I look forward to working with you,
namaste,
Airin
P.S. my first class is a free community class at Just Breathe Wellness www.justbreathewellness.com Downtown Phoenix on Saturday at 11:45. It would be great to see some friendly burning faces there!

Poi Workshops at the Mystic Jewell with Alien Jon!!!

I highly recommend taking this workshop. Jon is an incredible prop artist and AZ is very fortunate to have him here willing to pass on his knowledge of poi!

Friday, March 7 - w/Alien Jon & assistant Tricia: $40 covers both classes
•	6-7:00 Fundamental forms of modern poi $20 - Covers fundamental poi concepts, exercises, and poi scales. Indispensable for the beginner, fill in holes for intermediate spinners, and give advanced spinners a chance to delve deeply into the foundation that makes all advanced moves easy to learn and flow with.
•	7-8:00 Advanced Poi and technical concepts $30 - Covers an advanced model and understanding of the spin zones around the human body so that you can spin anywhere in any orientation including behind the head and back or under the legs. This also includes inside planes and inswings in between the arms all around the body. Further exploration in the body and poi relationships as time sculpture: tracing geometry through time. This yields incredible feelings and unbelievable visual effects for your audience. For the uber-advanced we can cover 'Composite' spinning: pattern construction using independent control of each hand/poi. For example advanced hybrids.

Call the Mystic Jewell, Alien Jon, or Tricia to reserve your spot!
Mystic Jewell (480) 894-8777
Jon Everett (720) 935-3822
Tricia Moore (480) 233-6706

Teacher Bios:

Alien Jon:
Jonathan Everett has been spinning things since childhood, starting with himself, and expanding to socks with tennis balls in them and sticks found in the woods of Maine. Starting with his first pair of devilstix in 1995, he officially entered the world of object manipulation. In 1999, from a foundation built on devilstix and drawing inspiration from T'ai Ji and Aikido, he began spinning glowing objects on strings or in socks at "all night dance parties". After meeting other spinners he learned that objects had been spun in a similar manner for millennia by ancient cultures from around the world. This gave rise to the discovery of fire spinning, and his dedication to the art of contemporary poi began.
From devilstix and poi other object manipulation quickly followed: Sphereplay, staff, meteor, diabolo, and astrojax to name a few. These talents have been melded with a love of music and dance, including liquid, illusional, and funk styles. Jon loves to play and lives for the spark of innovation and creativity, while further honing his skill through diligent practice.
Jon has performed at the Fringe Benefit for the 1st Annual Boulder Fringe Festival, the 1st Annual Boulder Juggling Festival, Ratuva Circus performance and workshops, COSM Fire, the 2007 Burning Man Conclave, and with the ExtraTerrestrial Circus Experiment. He has taught classes around the country in poi, sphereplay, and devilstix at the Double Rainbow Ranch, Boulder Circus Center, 1st Annual Boulder Juggling Festival, Shepherd Valley Waldorf School, SphereCamp East and West, Domba/Mystic Jewell Dance Studio, Wildfire (CT), Florida State University, and at Renaissance Festivals country-wide. He also teaches private lessons.

Zan's:
Zan started performing in South America on tour with his brother Noah, and continues to burn with the same inspired passion as in the beginning. His training has led him far and wide, through a dozen countries and across the disciplines of spinning, dance, juggling, music, yoga, circus, martial arts, and acrobatics. Zan's specialty is dazzling fire performances, though he thrives on the challenge of a unique performance for each event, be it day or night. Whatever the occasion, Zan delivers pure entertainment with unforgettable class, style, and grace.
Known for his expertise in the theory and technique of poi and staff spinning, Zan has given workshops around the U.S. and abroad.

Spinagogue workshops march 21-23 in Oakland

I went to the staf fintensive and it was SOO much fun and learned a lot. I know some people from the PHX area are going to be making the trek, I'm not sure if i will be able to go but thought i'd let everyone know....

The first Spinagogue taught us to master the art of poi, during the second Spinagogue we were shown the way of staff. Now it’s time to broaden our horizons. Join us at The Vulcan Spinagogue for a weekend of intense object manipulation of ALL KINDS including poi, staff, double staffs, hoop, whips, juggling, contact, and more.

What is Spinagogue? Check out our past events:
July 2007 Poi intensive: youtube.com/watch
Nov 2007 Staff intensive: youtube.com/watch

Spinagogue is a weekend intensive designed to radically improve your skills while immersing you in Bay Area fire scenery: 28 workshops, three days of food, dinners are prepared by our master vegan chef Joshua the Traveling Chef (joshuaploeg.blogspot.com/), a fire jam and a special sneak preview performance by the Vulcan Crew.

The Vulcan is a hotbed of fire arts located in the heart of "lovely" industrial East Oakland. In addition to hosting the east bay's best and brightest spin jam, the Vulcan is home to over 100 local performers and artisans of all types. Five workshop spaces and living areas inside the Vulcan will host our festivities. Free lodging (sorry, just couches) will be available Friday through Sunday for participants from outside the bay area. Additionally, hotels are available locally starting at about $45 a night.

A typical day at the Vulcan? youtube.com/watch

There are two choices for participation:
1.) Immerse yourself for the full weekend intensive and choose from ANY of the available classes.
The full weekend cost $180 including food, 7 workshops of your choice and that warm, cuddly feeling in your tummy. An $80 non-refundable deposit will be required to register.

2.) Drop in for a few classes of your choice from our list of prescheduled classes.
The drop-in classes will be $30 for a single class, however if you take more than one all classes are $25 each. Meals not provided. Payment must be received before your spot is secured.

Please Note: In order to limit class size, registration will be capped at 25 full weekend participants and about 10 drop in students per class, first come first serve so register EARLY!

To register for the full weekend, send an email to Spinagogue@gmail.com with a list of your top 11 class preferences and well as your name, phone number, and whether or not you require accommodation.

To register for a drop in class, send an email to Spinagogue@gmail.com with your class choice(s), your name, phone number.

Afterwards, stay and spin. Spinagogue instructors will be on hand to assess your spinning progress, help you set goals for the weekend and finalize class selection.
